Description

Captain’s Cottage is a beautiful three-bedroom detached thatched cottage, perfectly positioned in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea. With the beach, village pub and tea rooms all just a short stroll away, everything you need for a relaxed coastal stay is within easy reach. This quintessential Norfolk cottage is as charming inside as it is from the outside.

Step through the front door into the welcoming hallway and you’ll find the open-plan living and dining space to your right, stretching from the front to the back of the cottage. The cosy sitting area offers comfortable seating and a Smart TV for relaxed evenings in. A step down leads to the dining area, where double doors open onto a sunny patio and the private enclosed garden. The well-equipped kitchen sits just beyond, complete with breakfast bar, electric cooker, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave and washing machine.

The cottage offers flexible sleeping for up to six guests. On the ground floor there is a twin bedroom with 3’ single beds and an ensuite shower room. Upstairs you’ll find a king-size bedroom and a further twin bedroom. A family bathroom and separate shower room are located just off the hallway downstairs.

Outside, the private fully enclosed garden is ideal for enjoying warmer days, with outdoor furniture for al fresco dining. There is parking for two to three cars outside the cottage, along with complimentary permits for Winterton Beach Car Park.

One small to medium dog is welcome free of charge. Dogs are welcome throughout the downstairs living areas and may join you on the sofas using the throws provided. Please do not leave dogs unattended at the property. A £30 oil heating supplement applies to stays from September to March.

Location

Captains Cottage is located in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea, a pretty unspoilt village perched on the Norfolk Coast. It only takes five minutes to walk to long sandy beaches which are dog friendly all year round.

The local Fisherman’s Return pub (dog friendly) serves good food, and is across the road from the property. Also in the village within walking distance you’ll find the village shop, Poppy’s post office and tea rooms (we can recommend the breakfasts), a fish & chip shop and Seal View café at the beach.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep, and Winterton Dunes is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Winterton. It’s an amazing sight to see.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.
