Description

Step inside The Cranny and you've found your perfect holiday cottage. This pretty property is all on one level, and has a fantastic location in the centre of the village - yet only five minutes walk from the beach. The cottage has been completely renovated and refurbished throughout by the current owners, to provide a high standard of accommodation.

The front door opens into the entrance hall, which leads through to a living room on the right with comfortable sofas and a smart TV. The round dining table has seating for four people, or you can dine al fresco in the wonderful private garden. The cottage has an unusual layout, with one bathroom leading off the living room which has a shower over the bath, WC and a washbasin. The well equipped kitchen is also accessed from the living room, and has an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine, slimline dishwasher and microwave.

In the other half of this quirky double roundhouse you'll find two beautifully furnished bedrooms. The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and smart TV, as well as an en-suite wet room with a shower, WC and a washbasin. Bedroom two has standard size double bed and TV.

Outside The Cranny is set within it's own cottage style garden - a private oasis in the middle of the village. There's off road parking for 1-2 cars. Up to a maximum of two dogs are welcome at The Cranny.

Location

The Cranny is perfectly situated in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea, a pretty unspoilt village perched on the Norfolk Coast. It only takes 5-10 min to walk to long sandy beaches which are dog friendly all year round.

The local Fisherman’s Return pub (dog friendly) serves good food, and is a 2 minute walk from The Cranny. Also in the village within walking distance you’ll find the village shop, Poppy’s post office and tea rooms (we can recommend the breakfasts), a fish & chip shop and Seal View café at the beach.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep, and Winterton Dunes is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Winterton. It’s an amazing sight to see.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.

For families, the seaside town of Gt Yarmouth is only a 15 minute drive away, with a sandy beach, end of pier entertainment, Sea Life centre, amusement arcades, pleasure beach, bowling, cinemas, Venetian Waterways, crazy golf and much more. We also recommend the award winning BeWILDerwood an outdoor tree house adventure park with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat rides - just a 20 minute drive away near Horning. Wroxham Barns is nearby with independent shops, craft studios, a kids' farm, funfair and restaurant.

The fine city of Norwich is a 40 minute drive away, and offers shopping, museums, restaurants and a choice of theatres.

There’s a great choice of places to eat out locally including beachside cafes, local pubs and fine dining restaurants and we provide all guests with a comprehensive list in our digital welcome information.

Amazing cottage that we were grateful to be able to return to. Amenities on your doorstep, beach and dunes 5 minutes walk, cosy and comfortable lounge, secure garden for our dog and seals on the beach. What else could you ask for?!

We had a lovely stay at The Cranny.. it’s a unique property in the middle of the village, close to the pub, shop and Fish&Chip shop… it’s also a minutes walk from the dunes.. it is well equipped and comfortable and unusually has a tv in each bedroom as well as the lounge which we found handy… it has a secure garden for a dog and off road parking.. the owners kindly left us some lovely goodies on arrival as well as a much welcomed bottle of milk in the fridge.. this is my second stay at this property and I have no doubt it won’t be my last.. I highly recommend

Lovely little cottage in central position in the village, so cosy and well equipped. The cottage was very nicely presented with a lovely pretty garden. We felt very welcome, and enjoyed a comfortable peaceful stay.

Had a great time at The Cranny. A beautiful cottage set in the lovely village of Winterton. The cottage was well equipped and with a lovely welcome pack on arrival. The beach, dunes, chip shop and, of course, the pub were all just minutes away. The garden provided a great enclosed space for the doggie to relax after his walks in the surf. Would highly recommend The Cranny and we would definitely stay here again.

Our first stay at "The Cranny" and would very much like to return. Clean, comfortable and well equipped with a good garden and off road parking. Beach, pub, fish and chips, tea room and shop all within easy walking distance. Very dog friendly. Highly recommended.

This was out fifth visit to Winterton but our first stay at the Cranny what a lovely place it is The housekeepers should be congratulated on the cleanliness and presentation of the property throughout. The garden also was lovely which our Labrador loved. The weather was kind after a 'shakey' start and we visited places that we have been to before but this time found Sherringham Park which we enjoyed walking the trails and the superb views. Hospitality at the Fisherman's was first class as usual with excellent food as always. We are very taken with this area of the country and will no doubt be back again, hopefully soon.

What a fabulous cottage. I was on my own with 2 dogs. It was so homely and exceptionally clean. The garden was a great bonus, which the dogs loved. So close to the beach and dunes for great walks with the dogs. Good pub not far, and brilliant fish and chip shop. Didn't get chance to go into Poppy's, but perhaps next time. Excellent welcome pack. Hopefully I will be back.
