Location

Rothwill House is perfectly located right in the centre of Winterton-on-Sea — park up outside and forget about driving for the rest of your stay. Everything in the village is within easy walking distance, including the sandy beach, Fisherman’s Return pub, fish and chip shop, Poppy’s Tea Room and Seal View Café. Whether you’re popping out for breakfast or heading for an evening stroll along the shore, everything you need is just a short walk away.

There are plenty of walks from the doorstep, making this an ideal base for walking, cycling or running. The surrounding area is great for birdwatching and seal spotting too. Winterton Dunes, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), offers miles of unspoilt coastline to explore. From late November to early January, you can witness the incredible sight of thousands of grey seals and their pups on nearby Horsey Beach — just a 10-minute drive from Winterton.

For cyclists, there are excellent routes and trails to discover, and a little further afield, the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or the option to hire your own vessel for the day. You’ll also find opportunities for fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding.

If you fancy a livelier day out, the traditional seaside town of Great Yarmouth is only 15 minutes away, with its sandy beach, amusement arcades, Sea Life Centre, pleasure beach, cinemas and more. The historic city of Norwich is around 40 minutes’ drive and offers great shopping, restaurants, museums and theatres — perfect for a cultural day trip.
