Description

The Carpenters Shop is situated in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk village of Fleggburgh. This three bedroom property offers lots of outside space to enjoy and a short 10 minutes drive of a choice of beaches at either Winterton-on-Sea, Caister or Hemsby. The Norfolk Broads are close by and there's a fantastic pub - The Kings Arms - just 5 mins walk from the house.

This quirky and eccentric property has reminders of its history throughout, including old tools regenerated as clothes hooks and old oil canisters converted to fabulous light fittings.

Through the front door is a large entrance hall. The three bedrooms are all situated downstairs with a lift or stairs to the first floor, making this property fully accessible for all. The main bedroom has a kingsize bed with en suite shower room, with two further bedrooms having a standard double bed, and two 3' single beds. There is a modern bathroom with large walk in shower, sink and WC.

In addition to the bedrooms downstairs, there's an open plan living space with a dining table for six and a comfortable L-shaped sofa to enjoy views of the garden. Patio doors to the garden and patio areas help welcome the outside in. There is a handy utility area with small fridge, sink, washing machine and accessories to outside via the back door.

Venture upstairs via the spiral staircase (or you can use the lift in the hall). A large open plan living area has a corner sofa, additional sofa, Smart TV, kitchen area and dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with a breakfast bar and four bar stools, an electric hob and oven, dishwasher and an under counter fridge and freezer. Patio doors open up to a balcony with bistro set for the perfect place for morning coffee.

To the rear of the property there is a spacious enclosed garden with patio and BBQ area enclosed with chestnut and wire stock fence. Beyond the garden fencing there is a 2.5 acre fully enclosed exercise paddock for the sole use of guests which has 1.2m wire stock fence all the way round in addition to hedging on 3 sides. There is off road parking at the front of the property for multiple vehicles. Unlimited number of dogs are welcome free of charge.

Location

The Carpenters Shop is situated in the beautiful Norfolk village of Fleggburgh. Fleggburgh lies between Filby Broad and Lily Broad in glorious Norfolk countryside.

There is a small supermarket/post office in the neighbouring village of Filby. An amazing dog friendly pub/restaurant – The Kings Arms, just the other side of the church (2 minute walk) and a lovely farm shop and café (Hirsts Farm Shop) in neighbouring village of Ormesby which is a 10 minute drive from here.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep in and around the villages, edging round broads and taking in lovely countryside. From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Fleggburgh. It’s an amazing sight to see.

St. Mary’s Church in Fleggburgh is one of only 53 thatched churches in Norfolk and dates back to the Norman period.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.

For families, the seaside town of Gt Yarmouth is only a 15 minute drive away, with a sandy beach, end of pier entertainment, Sea Life centre, amusement arcades, pleasure beach, bowling, cinemas, Venetian Waterways, crazy golf and much more. We also recommend the award winning BeWILDerwood an outdoor tree house adventure park with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat rides - just a 20 minute drive away near Horning. Wroxham Barns is nearby with independent shops, craft studios, a kids' farm, funfair and restaurant.

The fine city of Norwich is a 40 minute drive away, and offers shopping, museums, restaurants and a choice of theatres.

There’s a great choice of places to eat out locally including beachside cafes, local pubs and fine dining restaurants and we provide all guests with a comprehensive list in our digital welcome information.

We have just returned from The Carpenters Shop and have already booked to return next year. It is beautifully laid out, comfortable and equipped with everything you could need. The garden is spacious and the paddock is a lovely space to use when you just want a play with the dogs or maybe some search games or training. There are several lovely beaches nearby, Winterton was our favourite. Tacons farm shop has lovely fresh veg, meat, cheese, homemade pies, bread and cakes. The staff are really friendly and helpful. Nippy Chippy food van serves from the car park opposite. Food can be pre ordered and is freshly cooked. If your dogs are people reactive, the bungalow next door overlooks the garden, but the occupants are friendly. A busy road runs past it but once inside, it doesn't cause a disturbance. We can't wait to go back next year.

Carpenters Shop is just the nicest property. On arrival immaculately clean and tidy, everything we could possibly need right on hand. Top of the range cooking facilities, Ninja included! The upside down living was perfect and the lift to get food supplies upstairs on arrival was welcomed and loved by the 12 year old in our party. Parking a doddle and access to the garden spot on. Great location for exploring this part of Norfolk, well furnished with nice shops and pubs nearby. The 2.5 acre orchard/paddock was the highlight for us and our 13 dogs - so nice to be able to use this as well as our daily walks and ensure they had as good a holiday as we humans did. One of the very few holiday homes I've stayed in that I'd love to live in forever - was sad to leave and hope to be back. Don't hesitate on booking this fabulous, quirky, well set out and thoughtful property.

We booked to stay at the Carpenter Shop as the ‘parents’ of 3 dogs - 1 being very reactive - as the property comes with a private 2 and a half acre paddock. This did prove to be a winner! Internally, the house has an upstairs and a downstairs sitting room, which is great if your nervous dogs don’t like spiral staircases or lifts (as ours didn’t!). There were a lot of thoughtful touches - especially the very well equipped kitchen with salt & pepper grinder, cling film, foil, etc … it’s the little things! The gorgeous Winterton-on-Sea is close by for dog walks (thankfully the seals were in the sea and not on the beach!) and the local pub - The Kings Arms - was fantastic (more restaurant than pub). Overall, a great stay.

We had a lovely fortnight at this family home. A lovely relaxing feel. Clean and everything you need whilst there. Dogs are not forgotten with beds and bowls for them. Throws for furniture. The garden is a lovely size. We only used the paddock after we checked for cats etc. Everything felt like it was 15-25 mins away such a great location to visit so many places. We loved going to the beach at Winterton each morning. If you’re looking to visit Norfolk I can highly recommend this lovely house. Information and correspondence was excellent also.

We had a lovely week at Capenters shop. The property is very well equipped and was clean, a nice touch was the welcome box, enjoyed! Dog friendly with multiple dog beds, throws for the furniture, water bowel, towels and some treats. Lovely garden and paddock, we didn't use the paddock much as our 2 labs spotted multiple cats in there...say no more. The area is lovely and within easy reach of multiple dog friendly beaches. We also visited Felbrigg Hall abd Sherringham park, Horsey windpump and walked some of the weavers way. Wouldn't hesitate to come back.

We had booked this for my mums 80th birthday, and what a wonderful house it is. Very well equipped and the lift was a huge bonus for my mum and her two older dogs. The outside paddock was fabulous and enjoyed everything the house offered. The weather wasn’t kind but made the best of it. Beautiful village with a lovely feel. Norwich city was a real hit, lovely to see a thriving shopping area and almost no empty shops! Had everything including a fabulous market. The carpenter shop was perfect, thank you.

Stayed for a week at The Carpenter's shop - 4 adults and 2 greyhounds. The house was spotless and everything we could need was provided. The large dog beds were perfect for lazy greyhounds and they loved doing zoomies in the secure paddock. Some sunshine, wonderful food in the Kings Arms and days out at the beach made for a lovely holiday and we'd love to come back again next year!!

What a lovely and interesting property, spotlessly clean when we arrived too! :-) Loved the layout and the furniture and decor was all top quality. The garden was fantastic and a wonderfully well equipped kitchen. Our dog loved the numerous dog beds around the house, this was a lovely thoughtful touch. The biggest highlight for us was the attached paddock, which we used several times a day. The only improvement which could be made is to add some screening to the small area of the neighbours garden which boarders the paddock, if possible?!? The neighbour had 2 dogs and as our dog is reactive then we couldn't quite fully relax in the paddock in case the neighbours dogs were let out and may come close to the fence on their side. If there could be some screening just against that small piece of fence it would really great. :-) We have booked a return visit to the property and looking forward to it.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful house (2 adults and 4 dogs). The lift was perfect as my oldest dog is disabled and can’t do stairs, he loved riding up and down to the lounge with me. The garden and field were perfect, the dogs enjoyed a lovely early morning and late evening play in the field and the older boy went round a couple of times at lunchtime too as he can’t manage hills and soft going. The pub food is awesome, but also check out the Filby Bridge Restaurant, a total hidden gem with amazing food. Lovely local beaches and we walked miles with the dogs. So much to see and do and a perfect base that is totally dog friendly to do it. Really friendly neighbours, and fully equipped for the dogs . Hope to be back one day.
