Description

2 Old Chapel Cottages was originally part of a Methodist Chapel built in 1812, and is right next door to 1 Old Chapel Cottages. At the front of the cottage is a small enclosed seating area which is perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks. The front door leads into an open plan living/dining area with two comfortable sofas, a smart TV and a log burner effect electric fire. The extendable dining table has four chairs.

The compact but well equipped kitchen has everything you could need for your holiday: an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. Through the kitchen you'll find a modern bathroom with walk in shower, washbasin and WC.

Upstairs there are two beautiful bedrooms. One with a kingsize bed, and the other with 3' wide bunkbeds. The bunkbeds are better suited to one adult and one child or two children. There's also an upstairs WC and washbasin off the landing. The cottage is heated throughout with electric heating.

At the back of the cottage is a very useful porch area which is ideal for storing coats and shoes. Opposite there's an outhouse with an additional fridge/freezer and washing machine.

One medium or two small dogs are welcome free of charge. There is on-road parking on Old Chapel Road near the property. The cottage is a very short walk from the dunes, dog friendly beach and other local amenities in the village of Winterton-on-Sea. Please note for security reasons, CCTV operates on the property.

Location

2 Old Chapel Cottages is located in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea, a pretty unspoilt village perched on the Norfolk Coast. It only takes 5 mins to walk to long sandy beaches which are dog friendly all year round.

The local Fisherman’s Return pub (dog friendly) serves good food, and is a 5 minute walk from the property. Also in the village within walking distance you’ll find the village shop, Poppy’s post office and tea rooms (we can recommend the breakfasts), a fish & chip shop and Seal View café at the beach.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep, and Winterton Dunes is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Winterton. It’s an amazing sight to see.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.

For families, the seaside town of Gt Yarmouth is only a 15 minute drive away, with a sandy beach, end of pier entertainment, Sea Life centre, amusement arcades, pleasure beach, bowling, cinemas, Venetian Waterways, crazy golf and much more. We also recommend the award winning BeWILDerwood an outdoor tree house adventure park with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat rides - just a 20 minute drive away near Horning. Wroxham Barns is nearby with independent shops, craft studios, a kids' farm, funfair and restaurant.

The fine city of Norwich is a 40 minute drive away, and offers shopping, museums, restaurants and a choice of theatres. There’s a great choice of places to eat out locally including beachside cafes, local pubs and fine dining restaurants and we provide all guests with a comprehensive list in our digital welcome information.

My dogs love the dunes better than the beach, so that was a major plus about this cottage, being so close to the dunes. Small but cosy cottage, just what we needed for a little break.

Wonderful cottage great location, fully equipped, cosy, every effort has been made to ensure the perfect stay for any guests at the cottage. Linda and Gerry also provided six days of sunshine and the northern lights! I'm sure we will be visiting again.

Small compact property but very comfortable and well provided with everything needed for a restful break. There is a small porch for you shoes and wet things, a lounge with two sofas, a dining table and 4 chairs and a smart TV on the wall above the fireplace which has an electric 'wood burner' fire. The kitchen is small but has everything required including a hob, double oven, dishwasher and microwave. Behind the kitchen is a shower room with an electric shower and a toilet and basin. Upstairs there is a king size bed, a small bedroom with bunk beds and a small toilet. The owners provided some tea, coffee, soft drinks and a box of chocolates. We did have one major issue but the owner, Linda, sorted it very quickly. Overall, a lovely cottage which is literally 2 minutes from the dunes and a similar amount of time to the village centre. Very happy to recommend this property.

Lovely little cottage , cosy and very clean. Great hosts who were very helpful and friendly. Excellent walking distance to the beach and local tea room and fish and chip shop. Lots of nice touches for our arrival and the shortbread was much appreciated after our drive up from Kent . We Highly recommend this cottage and will look to book again in the near future.

We had a lovely stay in 2 Old Chapel Cottages. Everything was immaculately presented. The bed was very comfortable with good pillows and duvet. We enjoyed warm cosy November evenings in the lounge/dining room with its comfortable sofas and ‘soft lighting’ side lamps. The kitchen was well equipped. Everything had been thought of. We liked the idea of having an extra fridge/freezer in the outside room. We only used the back entrance to the cottage as it was useful for leaving boots and footwear. This is our sixth Winterton Cottage stay and each cottage has an equally high standard of cleanliness and comfort. We love this end of the village. It is very peaceful and a short walk to the dunes for wonderful walks and, of course, beautiful Winterton Beach. You also have the pub, fish and chip shop, Poppy’s Tea Room/shop/post office/newsagent, the corner convenience store and the beautiful church all within walking distance. This is our sixth Winterton Cottage break and each cottage is of an equally high standard. Thank you to the owners, Linda and Gerry, for a perfect stay and for the thoughtful extra touches.
