Description

The Net House is a stylish two bedroom cottage located in Winterton. Winterton is a former fishing village, and net houses were dotted around the village and used by fishing boat owners to store their nets. The Net House is part of one of those original buildings.

Downstairs, the entrance porch leads into the well equipped kitchen diner which has an electric hob, oven and fridge freezer. There's also an integrated dishwasher and washing machine. The living area has a TV and comfortable seating for up to four people. It overlooks the pretty back garden which is fully enclosed.

Upstairs there are two bedrooms: one has a kingsize double bed, and the other has twin single 2'6" beds which can be converted to a kingsize double bed on request. The modern bathroom has a large walk in shower, wash basin and WC.

Outside there is ample off road parking for two cars and the back garden is private and enclosed. The Net House and three dogs are welcome. The cottage is only a five minute walk from the beach, and close to other local walks across the Norfolk countryside.

Location

The Net House is situated down a quiet loke in Winterton-on-Sea, a pretty unspoilt village perched on the Norfolk Coast. It only takes 5-10 min to walk to long sandy beaches which are dog friendly all year round.

The local Fisherman’s Return pub (dog friendly) serves good food, and is a 5 minute walk from The Net House. Also in the village within walking distance you’ll find the village shop, Poppy’s post office and tea rooms (we can recommend the breakfasts), a fish & chip shop and Seal View café at the beach.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep, and Winterton Dunes is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Winterton. It’s an amazing sight to see.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.

For families, the seaside town of Gt Yarmouth is only a 15 minute drive away, with a sandy beach, end of pier entertainment, Sea Life centre, amusement arcades, pleasure beach, bowling, cinemas, Venetian Waterways, crazy golf and much more. We also recommend the award winning BeWILDerwood an outdoor tree house adventure park with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat rides - just a 20 minute drive away near Horning. Wroxham Barns is nearby with independent shops, craft studios, a kids' farm, funfair and restaurant.

The fine city of Norwich is a 40 minute drive away, and offers shopping, museums, restaurants and a choice of theatres.

There’s a great choice of places to eat out locally including beachside cafes, local pubs and fine dining restaurants and we provide all guests with a comprehensive list in our digital welcome information.

Our 3rd stay at Net House, still our favourite cottage in the village. Ideal position in the village & perfectly set up for a relaxing stay, can accommodate 4 adults easily. Thanks to Rachel who is always contactable & we hope to return early in the new year.

We stayed at Net House last year so knew it would be ideal for us because of its size & location. This time we had the advantage this time of a summer visit so could enjoy the garden, it has the sun all day & is secure for the dog to be out alone. Everything was as before & the owners are always available if you need to contact them, we have booked to return later this year.

We had a lovely stay at Net House. It had everything we needed, a good size for three adults and a dog. It is super close to the sand dunes and beach. So good for dog walks. Poppy's cafe and the fish and chip shop are highly recommended. Also the Fisherman’s Return pub was lovely. Rachel was always quick to respond to any questions and we loved the welcome pack on arrival. We will be back again soon for sure!!

Our sixth year visiting Winterton on Sea this time staying at Net House. Lovely cottage in a great location which has everything you need for your holiday. A short walk to to a wonderful beach through the dunes or via beach road and your bound to see seals in the sea at some stage. Good walks to other villages from here. The Broads close enough to visit or hire your own boat. The App was very useful and the welcome pack was lovely for us and the dogs enjoyed their treats. A wonderful week and of course we will be back.

Third time and certainly won’t be the last! Feel like it’s become our timeshare holiday, net house is so comfortable, well furnished and lovely bed, nothing too much trouble for Rachel sorting out a minor niggle, fast responses and so helpful. Wonderful beach, dune and coastal walks and seal spotting at Horsey a must. Lovely to just feel so at home and not to have to drive too many miles to have a really relaxing holiday. Used the app from previous visits contains very useful information. Had a meal from the fish and chip shop and drinks at the beach Seal View cafe a fair few times. An extremely dog friendly village. Suki appreciated the dog treats included in the welcome package, very thoghtful. Highly recommend Net House plus the cottage garden is a sun trap full of bird song. Just deciding which month to try next time, having been in June July and September previously. The beauty of being retired!
