Description

Starboard Cottage is a charming three-bedroom thatched retreat set right in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea. The village shop, dog-friendly pub, tea rooms and sandy beach are all just a short stroll from the front door.

Inside, the cottage offers generous living space with two separate sitting rooms downstairs – one with a TV – both furnished with comfortable sofas, creating plenty of room for families to spread out and unwind. Double doors open onto the patio and enclosed garden, perfect for relaxing after a day on the dunes. To the rear of the cottage, the well-equipped kitchen/diner includes an electric cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, along with a dining table seating six. A family bathroom with bath and shower over, WC and basin completes the ground floor.

Upstairs, there are three inviting bedrooms: one king-size room and two twin rooms. The twin bedrooms share a convenient Jack and Jill shower room, and all rooms offer ample storage.

Outside, the pretty enclosed garden features both lawn and paved areas for outdoor dining and play. There is parking for two to three cars outside the cottage, plus complimentary parking permits for Winterton Beach Car Park. Two dogs are welcome free of charge and may enjoy the downstairs living areas (and the sofas, with throws provided). Please note dogs must not be left unattended at the property. A £30 oil heating supplement applies to stays from September to March.

Location

Starboard Cottage is located in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea, a pretty unspoilt village perched on the Norfolk Coast. It only takes five minutes to walk to long sandy beaches which are dog friendly all year round.

The local Fisherman’s Return pub (dog friendly) serves good food, and is across the road from the property. Also in the village within walking distance you’ll find the village shop, Poppy’s post office and tea rooms (we can recommend the breakfasts), a fish & chip shop and Seal View café at the beach.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep, and Winterton Dunes is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Winterton. It’s an amazing sight to see.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.
