  • This is our second visit to Crossways Cottage and it didn’t disappoint. Weather was very good to us, location is perfect. Chip shop, Poppy's Cafe across the road and pub just round the corner. Beach 5 min walk which the dogs loved. People very friendly and a lovely relaxing week. Thank you Angela and Roger for the gift voucher for Fishermans Return pub and also leaving dogs treats. Very dog friendly cottage would definitely return.

  • We’ve just got back from another week away in beautiful Winterton courtesy of Winterton Cottages and the wonderful owners of Crossways Cottage. The cottage was wonderfully dog friendly and the owners set-up the downstairs bedroom facilities with us and our dogs in-mind. The cottage itself is brimming with character and is another Winterton ‘home from home’!! The village itself is just such a wonderful, happy place with Poppy’s tearoom and the Fisherman’s Return at its very heart - you really don’t need to go anywhere else! Crossways is located on beach road, literally a 2 minute walk from the beautiful beach and dunes - we have fallen in love with the dunes at Winterton…such a unique, peaceful environment!! Many thanks again to Angie and Rodger for letting us stay at Crossways Cottage - we’ll be back again next May!! X

  • Just returned from Easter weekend. Crossways was just perfect very clean and everything you needed and owner gone above and beyond to make you feel at home - that’s including leaving your dog treats in jar! The dog shower was brilliant (need to invest in one). Cottage in the centre of the village and everything you could wish is no further than 5 minutes walk from beach and beach cafe, Pub, village shop and tea rooms and the fish & chip shop. We are more than happy to recommend the cottage.

  • We had a lovely weekend at Crossways Cottage with our two dogs at the start of December. Angie was super helpful and really quick to respond to any queries. The cottage was very comfortable, warm and well equipped. It is situated very close to the beach and we loved seeing the vast colony of seals on the beach - just be careful not to let the dogs off the lead near the seals! The cottage is also very close to an excellent and cosy pub plus there is a great chippie and handy corner shop in the village. Everything you need on your doorstep for a great weekend away! Thank you Angie.

  • We had a lovely week at Crossways Cottage (5-12/8/22) with our 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks. The location is perfect, being 5 minutes walk to the beach and even nearer to the fish and chip shop, dog-friendly tea room, dog-friendly pub and the village shop. Despite being so close to all amenities, it was also remarkably quiet. The cottage is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The owner left tea, coffee and milk, for the post travel cup of tea, and provided washing-up liquid, sponge, tea towel and dishwasher tablets, as well as the usual bed linen and towels. There were also bowls, towels, treats and throws for the dogs. The courtyard garden is secure and there are plenty of places to walk nearby as well as the beach. We recommend Crossways Cottage and will definitely book it again.

  • We have just had a lovely week's stay in Crossways Cottage (17-24 June 22). We have stayed in other cottages in Winterton but this is the nicest and most comfortable so far. It's location is perfect, in the heart of the village. The whole cottage is thoughtfully and tastefully appointed, and importantly for us, dog friendly even to the point of having a warm dog shower outside to remove sand from paws! I spent a lot of time sitting on the patio chairs reading in the evening sun. Certainly will be looking to return. Angie the owner is very helpful and will answer all the questions you need to know.

  • My first visit and what turned out to be an unusual holiday in more ways than one. The cottage is well worth a visit though the stairs can be a bit awkward at first but you soon adjust. There is a lovely and well kept garden and the property contains much more for the holiday maker than expected. Angie the owner is brilliant and easily contactable if needed. This was out dogs last holiday due to her health and we picked the perfect location she really enjoyed herself and the nice walks to the beach and the dunes. There are also a few sites to visit nearby but the village has amenities nearby. we will be looking to go back next year.

  • We have just returned home from a lovely week away at Crossways Cottage . You could not fault a thing perfect location for our needs, downstairs wc & bedroom was perfect for my mum, also has the benefit of being dog friendly too.
Winterton is a lovely little village with lots of great food places to eat.
    Would definitely stay here again.

  • we stayed at Crossways Cottage from the 18th - 22nd October and can safely say we had a fantastic time. Angie the owner was lovely could not do enough for you. The cottage itself was beautiful and had every amenity you could require. The cottage was warm and comfortable and very dog friendly, our cocker Cassie enjoyed the warm hose in the garden and the added bonus left by Angie of the doggie treats. The 5 minute walk to an amazing beach was perfect. We travelled to Horsey to see the seals which is always amazing and also a trip to Happisburgh. The local shop had everything you needed so no need to travel far. We went to the fish shop which provides great food and the pub offers a great menu and the service and welcome was great. Have to recommend the tea room absolutely lovely. Every where is dog friendly which is one of the reasons we keep coming back to Norfolk. I cannot praise Angie enough for providing myself my wife and our dog an amazing week, thank you again Angie.

  • We had a lovely week at Crossways Cottage. Angie had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and stress free, even down to dog treats and poo bags!! The cottage is literally a 5 minute walk from the dunes and beach, and we could even hear the sea at night while in bed.
The weather could have been better, but we still walked a lot and saw the amazing seals at Horsey. The pub, fish and chip shop and Poppy's tea room were all excellent. All in all, a perfect base for a relaxing week.

  • We had a wonderful week long stay at Crossways Cottage. The cottage is comfortable, clean and well equipped for all your needs - a real home from home. There is a lovely garden to chill in and relax, the arbour is a great place to unwind. Alternatively, have a glass of your favourite tipple on the patio. The beautiful beach is a short stroll from the cottage; making it a first class location. There are some wonderful walks along the beach or sand dunes. The mornings and evenings were so serene and it was calming listening to the sound of the waves. Winterton village is really pretty and great for a little stroll. You can grab a tasty breakfast across the road in the post office shop, which also doubles up as a tea room. There is a wonderful courtyard out the back. We loved getting our cakes here too! The lemon drizzle is amazing. The fish and chip shop was convenient too, requesting you to place an order before collection. Friendly staff here. The Fishermen’s Return is a great little pub where you can sit opposite and admire the chocolate box cottages. A short stroll from the pub, you will find the Hermanus Holiday cottages in the style of roundhouses. We had some spectacular meals here at The Highwayman. The food was impressive and great value for money. There are a number of places you can visit around the local area, take a boat trip on one of the many broads - Potter Heigham was conveniently located nearby and we managed to hire a boat by just turning up on the day, Wroxham Barns was great for a couple of hours, it has a few craft shops and children’s farm and a lovely place to stop off and mooch the cider shop, fudge shop and jewellery store. There are so many beautiful coastal places to visit in this region but if you want to just chill and relax, you don’t need to leave Winterton. I would definitely recommend ‘Crossways Cottage’ and we can’t wait to come back again in the not so different future.

  • We arrived at Crossways Cottage, it didn’t disappoint! It was a lovely. Cottage location lovely. Tea room opposite and chip shop, pub just down the road and beach five minute walk. The dog loved it. The outdoor shower is a brilliant idea. It is well kitted out with everything you want and they are very dog friendly. Angie is very attentive, she text to see if we’ve got there okay and everything was alright and left us a voucher for the tea room which we put towards a cream tea. Highly recommend this cottage and we will return. Thank you

  • Crossways is a lovely cottage, well maintained & looked after. We were fortunate with the weather and came home with a tan!! Helped by the burgeoning seascape, suntrap garden. We and our dog enjoyed our week and will be back soon. Thank you!

    — Anita Pashley, 16 May 2021
  • Lovely 4 day break, Angie the owner was in touch with any help we needed. Crossways was very clean the bed extremely comfy. Even the stairs being steep had hand rails for safety. Well equipped cottage. Village pretty 😍 dunes for good walks for the dogs.

    — Jane & Terry, 02 May 2021
  • We had the pleasure of staying at Crossways for a short break. The cottage is spotlessly clean and has all the home comforts. Our dog was very spoiled, with a tennis ball and treats, his own towels and a warm water shower outside. Winterton has a lovely feel to it, and the cottage is wonderfully located within a short walk of the beautiful beach. I can highly recommend Crossways, we can't wait to go back.

    — Angela Nowak, 18 Apr 2021
  • We were fortunate enough to stay here prior to lockdown restrictions. The cottage is homely, yet tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean - we felt immediately at home. Winterton-on-Sea offers all the amenities you need (local shop very well stocked) and some beautiful walks right on your doorstep, so no need to jump in the car if you want to completely relax. Would recommend the walk which includes the ruins of St Mary’s church.
Our dogs were well catered for with bowls, towels and sofa throws dedicated to them as well as a secure courtyard garden. The firm favourite was the hot water “dirty paws “ outdoor shower - we will definitely be investing in one! Thank you for a wonderful stay.
