School Summer Holidays by the Seaside in Norfolk

The school summer holidays are the perfect time to enjoy the Norfolk coast. While building sandcastles, exploring rockpools, and splashing in the waves are classic seaside activities, there’s so much more to keep families entertained. From wildlife encounters to theme parks, Norfolk is packed with fun days out for children of all ages.

Hemsby: Hirsty’s Family Fun Park

In Hemsby, Hirsty’s Family Fun Park is a firm favourite. Its giant maize maze keeps children (and parents) busy for hours. Families can also enjoy tractor rides, farm tours, and the chance to meet and feed baby animals. The café serves tasty, locally sourced food, and the farm shop is ideal for picking up home-grown produce.

Wroxham: BeWILDerwood

Just outside Wroxham lies the award-winning BeWILDerwood, a magical woodland adventure park. Children can explore treehouses, zoom down zipwires, cross rope bridges, and discover quirky creatures like boggles and twiggles. There are even boat rides through the enchanted forest – but keep an eye out for the crocodile-like “crocklebogs”!

Wroxham Barns

Another family-friendly attraction near Wroxham is Wroxham Barns. Its Junior Farm gives children the chance to cuddle lambs, feed calves, and meet mini pigs, rabbits, and goats. With an adventure playground, craft studios, and a café, it’s a fantastic all-weather outing.

Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens

Animal lovers will enjoy Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens, home to tigers, leopards, red pandas, otters, meerkats, and reptiles. Walkways above the enclosures provide incredible views, making you feel part of the wild. Feeding sessions add extra excitement, making it a great day out for families.

Great Yarmouth Attractions

The seaside town of Great Yarmouth is full of family attractions. The SEA LIFE Centre is perfect for rainy days, offering a fascinating look at life beneath the waves. Thrill-seekers can head to the Pleasure Beach for classic rides, including its famous wooden rollercoaster, while younger children love Joyland with its iconic snail ride. Other popular attractions include Merrivale Model Village, Pirates Cove Adventure Golf, and indoor play centres along the seafront. A simple stroll along the promenade can easily fill a day.

With so many exciting things to do, the Norfolk coast is the ultimate destination for a family-friendly summer holiday. Whether you’re exploring theme parks, meeting animals, or enjoying the beach, you’ll soon have memories that last a lifetime.
