Don’t Let the Weather Spoil Your Fun!

We all hope for blue skies and sunshine when staying on the Norfolk coast, but we all know the Great British weather can have other ideas! If the rain does make an appearance during your stay, why not head into Great Yarmouth, where you’ll find plenty of indoor attractions and activities to keep the whole family entertained? From fascinating museums and marine life to traditional seaside amusements and the cinema, there’s no need to let a rainy day spoil your holiday.

Dive Underwater at SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth

You might be avoiding the water outside, but there’s a whole underwater world waiting to be discovered at SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth. Come face-to-face with fascinating marine creatures, from sharks and rays to turtles and penguins, with talks and feeding sessions taking place during the day. It’s a great rainy-day option for families and conveniently located right on the seafront.

Discover Great Yarmouth’s Fascinating Past

A wet day is the perfect excuse to explore some local history. Time and Tide Museum is housed in a former Victorian herring curing works and tells the story of Great Yarmouth and the people who made their living from the sea. Walk through a recreated Victorian Row, discover the town’s fishing heritage and learn about shipwrecks and dramatic rescues. It’s an absorbing way to spend a few hours away from the rain.

Enjoy Some Traditional Seaside Fun

Rain doesn’t mean you have to abandon the seafront. Great Yarmouth’s famous amusement arcades provide plenty of undercover entertainment, from classic 2p machines and grabbers to modern games. Brittania Pier has family amusement centres as well as its theatre, where you’ll find a programme of live entertainment throughout the season. It’s worth checking what’s on if the forecast is looking decidedly soggy.

Catch a Film

Sometimes a rainy afternoon calls for popcorn and a good film. Arc Cinema Great Yarmouth on Marine Parade shows the latest releases and has comfortable reclining seats – perfect for escaping a downpour for a couple of hours. Alternatively, head a little further along the coast to the Palace Cinema in Gorleston, another good option for a wet-weather afternoon.

Make Your Own Sunshine

One of the best things about a holiday in Great Yarmouth is that there’s plenty to enjoy whatever the weather. Museums, marine life, cinemas and traditional seaside amusements mean a rainy day certainly doesn’t have to be a wasted day. And when the clouds finally clear? Grab an ice cream and head straight back to the beach – you’re at the seaside, after all!
