Family Fun This Easter
Easter is a wonderful time to escape to the Norfolk coast. Spring is in full swing, the days are getting longer, and there’s a real sense of excitement in the air — especially with the advent of warmer weather. For families, it’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy fresh sea air, sandy beaches, and plenty of seasonal activities.
One of the highlights of Easter in Norfolk is the variety of family-friendly days out. Just a short drive away from all of our cottages, Wroxham Barns hosts its popular Easter Adventure, where children can follow a fun trail, meet newborn lambs and chicks, and enjoy hands-on farm experiences. It’s always a hit with younger visitors.
Closer to the coast, Hirsty’s Family Fun Park in Hemsby is another must-visit. With daily Easter egg hunts, friendly animals, and even the chance to see newborn lambs, it’s a lovely, relaxed day out that feels properly local and authentic.
For something a little more traditional, the National Trust runs beautiful Easter trails at Blickling Estate and Felbrigg Hall. These are perfect for families who enjoy the outdoors — think winding garden paths, nature-inspired activities, and of course, a chocolate egg at the end. Felbrigg has a slightly more adventurous feel, while Blickling offers classic parkland and stunning scenery.
If you fancy something a bit different, the North Norfolk Railway’s “Easter Eggspress” adds a touch of magic to the holidays, while the Hippodrome Circus in Great Yarmouth delivers high-energy entertainment that children absolutely love.
Of course, Easter wouldn’t be complete without good food. After a morning of egg hunts or beach walks, many local pubs offer traditional Sunday lunches — with favourites like Hermanus in Winterton-on-Sea and their famous Sunday carvery.
And in between all the activities, don’t forget the simple pleasures. Building sandcastles on quiet beaches, spotting wildlife in the dunes, or enjoying fish and chips by the sea — these are the moments that make a Norfolk family holiday truly special.
Whether you’re planning a full Easter break or a short spring getaway, it’s a fantastic time to visit. The coast is coming back to life, there’s plenty to see and do, and it’s all just that little bit calmer before the summer rush.
