Description

Winnie is situated in a small development of holiday homes in the Lighthouse Field behind Hermanus Holidays in Winterton-on-Sea. The property is in a quiet position with a wide open space in front, and views across open countryside. Access to the dunes and beach is quick and easy from Winnie.

Inside you'll find an open plan living area, electric fire and TV. There's a dining area which seats four, and a well equipped kitchen with hob, oven, microwave and a fridge with a small freezer compartment. The chalet is decorated tastefully throughout. There are two comfortable bedrooms, each with a standard double bed. A brand new bathroom has a large walk in shower, washbasin and WC.

Up to two dogs are welcome at Winnie, but the grounds are not enclosed.

Guests at Winnie have access to the facilities at Hermanus*, including the outdoor heated swimming pool which is open from late May to early September. It is right next to the childrens' play area and surrounded by a brick wall to keep out the coastal breeze. There's wifi in the main building at Hermanus along with a launderette and plenty of parking on site. The Coach & Horses bar & lounge is at the front of the main Hermanus building with amazing sea views, and is open for drinks and food throughout the week.

Location

Winnie is situated in a small development of holiday homes in the Lighthouse Field behind Hermanus Holidays in Winterton-on-Sea. It's a 5 minute walk to the village centre with pretty thatched cottages, and 5-10 min walk from long sandy beaches which are dog friendly all year round.

Guests at Winnie have access to the facilities at Hermanus, including the outdoor heated swimming pool which is open from late May to early September. It is right next to the childrens' play area and surrounded by a brick wall to keep out the coastal breeze. There's also wifi in the main building at Hermanus along with a launderette and plenty of parking on site. The Coach & Horses bar & lounge is at the front of the main Hermanus building with amazing sea views, and is open for drinks and food throughout the week. *Please note that opening hours at Hermanus Holidays do vary and the main building is usually closed in winter, so please check their website for up to date information.

The local Fisherman’s Return pub (dog friendly) serves good food, and is a 5 minute walk from the property. Also in the village within walking distance you’ll find the village shop, Poppy’s post office and tea rooms (we can recommend the breakfasts), a fish & chip shop and Seal View café at the beach.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep, and Winterton Dunes is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Winterton. It’s an amazing sight to see.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.

For families, the seaside town of Gt Yarmouth is only a 15 minute drive away, with a sandy beach, end of pier entertainment, Sea Life centre, amusement arcades, pleasure beach, bowling, cinemas, Venetian Waterways, crazy golf and much more. We also recommend the award winning BeWILDerwood an outdoor tree house adventure park with zip wires, jungle bridges, marsh walks and boat rides - just a 20 minute drive away near Horning. Wroxham Barns is nearby with independent shops, craft studios, a kids' farm, funfair and restaurant.

The fine city of Norwich is a 40 minute drive away, and offers shopping, museums, restaurants and a choice of theatres.

There’s a great choice of places to eat out locally including beachside cafes, local pubs and fine dining restaurants.

Perfect location, with Hermanus restaurant as a bonus as well. Excellent food, reasonable prices. The dunes and beach are a three minute walk away. Winterton village is lovely to walk round. Just love it.

Stayed at Winnie for 10 nights. Great location looking over Lighthouse Field. Very quiet on site. Had all the facilities necessary for a comfortable stay.

Winnie is a lovely chalet in a peaceful area of Hamanus. Short walk to dunes and beach. Fish and chips shop, cake shop and local shop all within a short walk. The only down side was no wifi but ok if you have enough data on phone.

We had a lovely stay in this really well appointed and nicely decorated seaside themed lodge/cottage. It's on a site with other lodges, but was so peaceful (there were plenty of others on site, just didn't hear anyone!) The lodges are well spaced and Winnie has a small (shared) field in front. There is a bar and restaurant on site, food and service was really good, and the Tuesday quiz night great fun, challenging and well run. The village has a couple of shops and a restaurant but is so beautiful and the whole area unspoilt. It's really not like a typical holiday village at all. It's a short walk to the dunes and the beautiful beach. Easy drive to Horsey Wind Pump and Horsey Gap where the seals were on the beach. Also easy reach of Great Yarmouth if that's your thing, or Gorleston a bit further on for a quieter experience. Given it was high summer we were able to avoid the more crowded locations. A trip on the Broads from the Museum of the Broads was very educational and enjoyable, also uncrowded and under used, lots of stuff for kids there too.

Thank you for our lovely stay at your lovely Chalet. What an amazing accommodation you provided. It was like home from home. You honestly could not of provided anything else in the chalet. We were just a couple on a short break. But you provided for couples, families, dog owners. Exceptionally little find. We had a lovely week at Winnie. The location was perfect for our dog and us, so quiet and peaceful and plenty of space outside to relax in the sunshine. Within a short walk of the beautiful beach, the great pub, village shop, fish and chip shop.etc. The owner has thought of everything to make a stay here comfortable and enjoyable. We didn't want to leave! We will return....

We booked a short break in Winnie - I have been to Winterton before but not stayed in a chalet. The location is fabulous - lovely views across open fields and only a couple of minutes walk to the sand dunes and across to the very quiet beach. The chalet itself is larger than we thought it would be and beautifully decorated. It was easy with the dog as there is plenty of open space outside. Beds very comfortable and loads of cooking utensils. Village pub and shop within a 5 minute stroll from the chalet. The chalet was very quiet - not sure if it would be busier in the school holidays but it was perfect for us. I would definitely book again.

First thing we noticed was the beautiful smell, in every room, even all of the linen! The chalet is decorated perfectly with lots of thought. Being on the Hermanus site it had a great outdoor area which is always sheltered from any coastal breeze. Two minute walk to the amazing dunes and scenery. The owner was lovely and very accommodating. I also have to add the bed in the back room was super firm and I was so comfortable I slept from night one! Will definitely be back.

What a lovely chalet - lovely decor, comfortable furniture, everything you could need for human and dogs available. We were here for a short break and had a lovely time with our dog - walking on the dunes and beach every day, having the best fish and chips from the village chippy, and visiting Poppies tea room for coffee and cake. Didn't need to leave the village for anything! Highly recommended and would love to return soon.

Booked a 5day holiday at Winnie from the 26th August 2024. The accommodation was well presented, clean and had everything we needed during the stay. Handy information booklet with lots of places to visit near by. The village was lovely and the chalet is only a short walk away from a stunning beach. Our 2 dogs loved it here. Very dog friendly area. Would definitely stay here again. Winnie is not to be missed!

Absolutely beautiful chalet. Everything from the bedding to the pictures on the wall were just perfect, the owners have definitely added their magic touch… Perfect location right on the beach and walking distance to the village pub, chippy and shop. Very highly recommended and already looking at dates for next year.

What a lovely chalet “Winnie” is beautifully decorated with lots of thought gone into it. In a fantastic place right near to the dunes and miles of sandy beaches 😎. The town of Winterton on Sea was very quiet and quaint. We were also lucky to see muntjac deer in front of the chalet. I would recommend this property to friends and family ❤️. Thank you for a lovely stay.
