Property Details

Winnie is a two bedroom semi detached chalet bungalow, situated in a great position in a quiet corner within the Lighthouse Field at Hermanus - a self catering holiday park with 40 acres of gardens, lawns and sand dunes. With fantastic views across the fields, guests staying at Winnie have access to all the facilities at Hermanus Holidays including the open air heated swimming pool (open May - September), children's play area, amusement arcade, bar and restaurant.

The living area has a comfortable sofa and two chairs, and has amazing views across the Lighthouse Field over the fields beyond. Fantastic for sunsets! There's a TV with Freeview, and a modern electric fire. The kitchen area has an electric cooker and hob, a fridge with a small freezer compartment, as well as a microwave. The dining table has seating for four, and there are picnic tables outside for Al Fresco dining.

The two bedrooms each have a comfortable standard size double bed, and the modern bathroom has a large walk in shower, wash basin and WC. Heating is provided by freestanding electric radiators, and an electric towel rail in the bathroom.

The Lighthouse Field has lots of outside space, and Winnie is at the end of the field, with nobody having to walk past the chalet. Two well behaved dogs are welcome at Winnie for a small charge of £15 per dog (there is no enclosed outside area but the field is fenced on three sides), and the area around Hermanus is excellent for dog walking, as you're right next to the sand dunes and beach.

Free Wi-Fi is available in the main Hermanus building, and there is a launderette on site for guests to use. There is plenty of parking near the chalet.

  • We stayed here the last week of August, we had wonderful weather, the cottage is well equipped, comfortable and in a great location, and the village is idyllic. We had such a relaxing holiday, we sat on the beach for the morning at Horsey watching the seals, took my parents to listen to the Ukulele singers at the cafe, had fish and chips, walks on the beach, food at the pub. It was heaven.

  • My wife having spent a weekend at Winnie in February, had no hesitation to book for a family holiday with our 4 year old daughter and our Labrador. It was well worth the long drive from north of Scotland. Being tucked away at the end of all the cottages, it really was quiet and we were never distrubed by any other guests, with our daughter and dog having the freedom of the large grass area right outside the front door. Winnie is just the perfect size for the family, with enough space to sit comfortably and enjoy the view out the very large front windiows. The kitchen is well appointed, the bathroom very luxurious with a large shower. The bedrooms have great storage and comfortable beds. The decor as everyone mentions is very tastefully done and relaxing. It really is a home from home and couldn't fault it as a destination. With the beach a daily enjoyable walk for us and day trips to lots of local sights within easy reach. If you have high standards, then I would definitely recommend Winnie as a place to stay.

  • We had a lovely stay a Winnie and would definitely recommend this cottage to our family and friends. The cottage itself was obviously a labour of love with all the artwork and finishing touches, immaculately presented in fact we didn't want to leave. The village of Winterton is a very pretty place, a shop, fish shop, Post Office and pub all close by. The beach and Dunes are amazing a great place to walk and finish at the Dunes cafe with their dog houses for dog walkers - we used this many times. We would definitely come back.

  • We had everything we needed and had a very relaxing long weekend. The weather was amazing for March and the walks along the beach and the dunes are spectacular. Try the beach cafe and then walk on to entertain the seals. The dunes are excellent for kite flying!

  • What a beautiful place to stay! Newly refurbished to a high standard and tastefully decorated - it was very cosy even when we visited on a really chilly weekend. Location is perfect, close to the beach and pub for walks and refreshments. Accomodation is really well kitted out, exceptionally clean with lovely views across the fields. We can't wait to return!

  • We love Winnie!!! Have just returned from an all too short 4 night stay. A beautiful, cosy home from home. We walked in to an immaculate bungalow, with everything you could possibly need and more! It is positioned out of the way of the main site, with the most amazing view over the fields which gave glorious sunsets. The whole place has the most amazing décor, so many lovely little touches, beautiful art work on the walls and everything with a super nautical theme. The kitchen was very well equipped with all you could possibly need. Nice touch....all sockets had USB connection. Very comfy beds and pillows! It is a short walk to the sand dunes and the beach where you will find the lovely sand dune café.

It is clear that a great deal of love and attention has gone into renovating this lovely little bungalow, we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

  • Wow what a weekend and fantastic accommodation, We have been to Winterton several times before and this is by far the best accommodation we have booked. The decoration was modern with a seaside theme, fitted out to a very high standard and immaculate throughout. The position is the best on the site, tucked in a very quiet location in the corner with fantastic afternoon sunshine and unspoiled views across the countryside. Positioned away from the car park and roads the chalet had a safe enclosed large garden for our dog to wander whilst we enjoyed a glass of wine (or two) watching the sun go down across the open fields. It was so so quiet, my dog barks at the slightest noise at home, she never barked once the whole weekend as it was so peaceful. I have booked my next trip to Winnie next Spring, cant wait.

  • We had a wonderful stay at this very tastefully decorated chalet, which is well equipped with a real home from home feel. There is a fabulous sandy beach, just a short walk away across the picturesque sands dunes and great places to eat such as the beach cafe or the Highwayman. We would highly recommend this wonderful chalet and hope to revisit soon.

  • Had a lovely few days at Winnie, weather was beautiful very hot and sunny. Accommodation was 1st class very well equipped to a high standard all round two good sized bedrooms and a beautiful newly fitted bathroom. Fantastic views from lounge. A few minutes walk to the beach and beach cafe which we would highly recommend. Also within walking distance to local pub, chip shop and general store. A few great golf courses within 35 minutes drive so on that note we will definitely be coming back.

  • Just had another lovely weekend in Winnie, just as relaxing as the last one. Everything is top class. Had a lovely walk on the beach to Hemsby with a nice meal and drink in the Lacon Arms, then a nice stroll back along the dunes, to sit outside on the lovely grass area outside Winnie. Can't wait to have another weekend there.

  • Winnie is a superb holiday home, well appointed and homely. The site is very quiet, thus very relaxing. Winterton has a nice pub / restaurant which is only 5 minutes walk. We will be coming back as we fell in love with Winterton on Sea as soon as we arrived and like the location of Winnie as a base to enjoy the beach which is only a few minutes away.

  • Just had a weekend break in this lovely place. It has a lovely warm feeling. There has been a lot of thought gone into making Winnie very inviting. The beach is a short walk away which the dogs loved. Great pub just down the road and lovely fish and chip shop. We had the use of a outside heated swimming pool. Can recommend the Sunday carvery. We will be going again thank you.

  • We have just returned from a very relaxed and very chilled weekend staying in "Winnie". The accommodation is a home from home with all your usual comforts in great surroundings. Very nicely furnished and very comfortable, viewing a large field area to the front that gets the sun from midday to sunset, and we had four glorious days of sunshine during our stay, one evening we even had a deer come looking at the bird feeders for any titbits it could find. The location is in a vast area of sand dunes and beach all within 5 minutes walk, seals on the beach walking towards Horsey, and not many people. The village of Winterton is an unspoilt little gem with an excellent pub, local store, post office and church, and a great variety of houses and cottages that give the place a certain charm. We will be returning in the future.

  • Good size accommodation - the lounge/kitchen was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. Comfy beds - wonderful sleep! We saw fantastic sun sets every evening from the comfort of the lounge. The bungalow was very clean and well equipped, and all in all a well needed relaxing, peaceful break was had by both of us. Thank you Winterton Cottages! We will definitely be back.

  • Gorgeous décor, stunning views and a stones throw from the dunes and beach. A great place to stay with family or friends. The two bedrooms are good sizes and the bathroom too. The living space is very relaxing, a home from home. We had a Sunday roast carvery from the facilities on site which was delicious. We also got to eat at the beach café and the local pub all a very short walk away. I would highly recommend this stylish, cosy accommodation.
