Description

Periwinkle Cottage is a stunning four bedroom detached cottage right in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea. Everything is within easy walking distance, including the long sandy beach. The cottage has been recently renovated and decorated throughout, and is a truly beautiful place to stay.

The front door leads into a hallway, and then through into the open plan living/dining area which runs from the front to the back of the cottage. At the back, double doors open out onto the patio area and garden. There's a smart TV, comfortable sofas and an electric stove. At the back of the cottage you'll find a well equipped kitchen with an electric range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.

Moving back to the hallway there is a bathroom and a separate shower room - both with amazing fish wallpaper on the ceilings. Stairs lead up to a half landing, with one set of stairs leading to the front two bedrooms, and the other set leading to the two back bedrooms. All the bedrooms are beautifully furnished and totally unique. Two have king size double beds, and two have twin 3' single beds. There's also a separate WC upstairs.

Outside there is dining furniture for eight, and the garden is fully enclosed. There is parking for two cars outside the cottage. Two dogs are welcome at no additional charge. Dogs are welcome throughout downstairs living areas and may join you on the sofas if using the throws provided. Please do not leave your dogs unattended at the property.

Location

Periwinkle Cottage is located in the heart of Winterton-on-Sea, a pretty unspoilt village perched on the Norfolk Coast. It only takes five minutes to walk to long sandy beaches which are dog friendly all year round.

The local Fisherman’s Return pub (dog friendly) serves good food, and is across the road from the property. Also in the village within walking distance you’ll find the village shop, Poppy’s post office and tea rooms (we can recommend the breakfasts), a fish & chip shop and Seal View café at the beach.

There’s an excellent choice of walks right from the doorstep, and Winterton Dunes is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). From the end of November to the beginning of January it’s pupping season for the local grey seal colony, with literally thousands of them on Horsey beach just 10 mins drive from Winterton. It’s an amazing sight to see.

For cyclists there’s a great choice of routes and trails to enjoy. A little further afield the Norfolk Broads offers scenic boat trips or hire your own boat for the day. There’s also fishing, kayaking, canoeing and paddleboarding available.

Periwinkle Cottage is beautiful, and thoughtfully laid out with everything for comfort and what you need to make it a home from home whilst away. The host Jan is on hand if needed and left some lovely welcome goodies including champagne for New Years Eve, with a welcome note. We had a fantastic relaxing stay and were a stones throw from the beach for long winter walks and the Fisherman's Return, it was a complete switch off. The garden is also 100% secure for dogs and safe, which is a piece of mind when you have an escape artist Beagle. Thoroughly recommend and will definitely book in the future.

We had a week at Perwinkle and it was perfect. Beautiful cottage, great our door space and very comfortable. Loved that everything was so handy in the village and all walkable. A real home from home. Thank you.

We’ve just returned from a truly delightful stay at Periwinkle Cottage, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every detail had been carefully considered. The cottage was immaculately clean and beautifully presented, creating an instantly welcoming atmosphere. One of the loveliest surprises was the thoughtful welcome package — a delicious homemade Victoria sponge, fresh milk, and a chilled bottle of prosecco. It was such a charming touch and made us feel right at home. Honestly, what more could you ask for? The surrounding area is peaceful and picturesque, perfect for a relaxing getaway. The local residents were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall sense of comfort and community. A special mention must go to the owner, who went above and beyond when my son accidentally left behind some valuables. They kindly retrieved the items and sent them back to us — a gesture we’re truly grateful for. All in all, Periwinkle Cottage is a gem. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

We had a wonderful stay at Periwinkle cottage absolutely everything you need clean white crisp bedding white fluffy towels plenty of space for the whole family. Jan the owner even gave us a welcome gift some fizzy pop and a beautiful homemade Victoria sponge which was delightful. Beach at Winterton on sea is golden sand will definitely be returning. My grandchildren loved it!

Cottage was beautiful and Winterton-on-Sea was a perfect location. Very close to a lovely pet friendly beach (walking distance) that we used every day. Local pub was also used frequently as only just across the road 🤣🥂. Will definitely be returning to this idyllic village next year 🥰

Periwinkle cottage is fantastic. We have stayed in many cottages throughout the UK and Periwinkle is one of our favourites. We had everything we needed and the welcome cake, sweets and wine was a lovely touch. Being so close to the dunes and beach was great and we had the best weather during our stay. The dog loved the dunes. Fishermans Return served good pub food and was great that dogs were welcome. We will definitely return and thank you for making our stay so easy!

A beautiful cottage in a perfect location for our two families during February half term. We loved being able to walk everywhere, including the 1 minute walk to the pub! Lovely enclosed garden meant we didn't worry about the dog either.

The cottage was lovely - in reality it was much more spacious and charming than I had pictured. The village setting is perfect and quaint and we really enjoyed the beach being a five-minute walk away through the dunes and dinner at the pub which was full of locals with their dogs! The bedrooms were spacious and very comfortable, the colour scheme was very relaxing and the large sofa was impressive! This must be great for large families sitting there together. The garden was also great, very well-maintained and the perfect size to enjoy a drink outside with friends. We all really appreciated the welcome gifts too!
