  • Lovely cottage and location. Very quiet and peaceful. Dunes are are almost on the doorstep. Recommend the walk from Winterton to Horsey gap along the beach. We saw thousands of seals along the way. Amazing.

  • Lovely cosy cottage, lots of beautiful touches, decor, great tiny rear yard just enough for late-night dog visit! 3 minutes to the dunes 😊 and all local amenities. Owner responsive to queries. Thank you very much.

  • A lovely well presented cottage with a warm glow from the Christmas lights as we entered. It had everything we needed for our short stay with the added extra of a welcome basket. The location was great as it was only a 3 mins walk to the dunes.

    — Ed McGuire, 04 Jan 2024
  • The cottage is in a great location! The accommodation itself is lovely and well thought out. The accommodation is well appointed and the welcome basket was a lovely touch. Something to note is the road is not well lit at night so take care when returning to the cottage when dark.

    — Emma Berkshire, 01 Jan 2024
  • The cottage really was home from home. Perfect size for 2 adults and very cosy and decorated perfectly. Great location close to the dunes and with a local pub and chippy only 5 mins walk. The welcome basket was a lovely touch too. We had a small problem whilst we were there but Terry was on hand to help resolve and with incredible service, speed and understanding. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again

  • This cottage is excellent value for money. We really appreciated the comfortable furniture, attractive decor, lovely art work and the superior bottle of red wine. The owners really do mean it when they say they are dog friendly and haven't compromised on anything. We love Winterton and it's long sandy beach. So lucky with the weather that we onlly moved the car once in the whole week.

  • Booked for four nights, should have booked for longer. Lovely situated cottage. Close to stunning beach where me and my dog Minnie spent most of our time! We loved it. Great fish n chips round the corner. Only two negatives: downstairs bathroom and no garden but that didn't impact on our enjoyment of Winterton or the cottage which was well appointed and cosy.

    — Irene Shortland, 18 Sep 2023
  • Wonderful few days in this really lovely cottage, where everything we needed was available, and a great surprise to find a lovely welcome basket for us. Perfectly situated for easy walks to the beach, up to the Pub, and a general walk around the village. Would recommend, and would return.

    — Ruth Horton, 07 Sep 2023
  • Excellent cottage for us two and the dog. Close proximity to sand dunes where dogs can be walked for miles in beautiful countryside. Nicely decorated and furnished, very homely not like a holiday let.

    — STEPHEN CRACKNELL, 04 Sep 2023
  • Loved our stay. The cottage was big enough for the 3 of us and the beds were super comfy. We definitely would stay again.

    — Natalie, 23 Aug 2023
  • We loved our stay at 1 Old Chapel Cottages. Pretty well equipped and very short, off road walk to beach. Very quiet area. Excellent chippy. Warm and comfortable. Boot room was really handy for storing things and cleaning the dog after time on the beach. Would stay again. Thank you

    — Jenny Roger, 09 Aug 2023
  • We loved our stay at this cottage and in Winterton-On-Sea. The village is lovely and we loved the Fisherman’s Return and Winterton Chip Shop. The beach is short walk away and is beautiful, the bonus was all the seals . The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, the communication and online digital pack was really useful. Bed in the main bedroom was very comfy and plenty of hot water. The Welcome basket was also a lovely gesture and well received. This cottage was the perfect place to explore the area. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

    — Leah, 08 Aug 2023
  • Really lovely cottage in a nice quite village and just a few minutes walk to the dunes/beach. Perfect for walking my dog, she absolutely loved it. There was a nice welcome basket on arrival and the owners were quick to respond to messages. Would recommend.

    — Marie Etheridge, 21 Jul 2023
  • Excellent place, very nice red wine on arrival, had everything we needed there, pub and chip shop close by, convenience store a couple of minutes away, the beaches are excellent too, very quiet but great for a dog, we would definitely go back to this cottage, loved it

    — Richard Walker, 16 Jul 2023
  • We had a lovely stay at 1 Old Chapel Cottages. It was very comfortable and it had everything needed for a relaxing break. The area was great for walking and my dog loved the dunes. The local pub was an extra bonus as not only was the food good it was very dog friendly.

    — Gaynor Macaulay, 05 Jul 2023
  • Very comfortable, cosy cottage a few minutes in a very quiet cul-de-sac. The cottage has everything you could want for a very comfortable stay and as it is only about 5 minutes walk from the beach it is ideal for a beach break.

    — Alice George, 21 Jun 2023
  • Fabulous cottage, loved the decor (and the artwork), very comfortable . Winterton has everything you need, great pub, cafe and village shop and it is very friendly - everyone says hello when out walking the dog on an early morning! Our dog was not fond of walking over the pebbles to the back door but otherwise she loved her visit to 1 Old Chapel Cottage and Winterton's amazing beach. The boot room is a great extra too, especially if it rains!! Would definitely stay here again.

    — Lynn Shaw, 13 Jun 2023
  • Lovely cosy cottage in this pretty village located in a convenient location of the sandy beach. Handy outside room for cleaning dirty dogs & storing beach things. Nice dog friendly pub and tea room/shop round the corner. Great for a few days by the sea.

    — Helen Mallows, 07 May 2023
  • An absolutely charming cottage in a great location. Lovely furniture (really comfortable sofas) with some quirky touches. We had everything we needed. Sadly this is our first holiday without a dog in many years but when we get our new pooch this will be on our list to book again as the outhouse was perfect for sorting out a muddy or wet dog - so convenient. Thanks for a lovely stay.

    — Sandra Findlay, 23 Apr 2023
  • This is a lovely cottage, really cosy and well furnished, in a great location. The welcome basket was lovely, the cottage was very clean and had great essentials. The garden outside is lovely but beware if your dog will only wee on grass you might have to walk out into the lane to go to the loo as its only stone in the garden. Perfect access to the beach and lovely walks and the chippy is excellent!

    — Jessica, 18 Nov 2022
  • We stayed at 1 Old Chapel cottage for the second time this year. Beautiful cosy cottage with everything we could have asked for. Lovely relaxing weekend and we enjoyed every moment. Our cocker spaniel Hunter loved his stay and settled in so well. Will definitely be booking again in the future.

    — Lisa Foster, 21 Sep 2022
  • Lovely comfortable stay at this cottage in our favourite village. Thank you for our welcome pack , the wine and cake particularly tasty and our two dogs loved the homemade treats.
Everything well supplied for a relaxing week. Dunes on the doorstep , local pub fabulous and Poppies tearoom for breakfast. What more could we ask for ?? Cannot wait to return. Thanks again.

    — Ally and Karl , 04 Sep 2022
  • My daughter and I had a lovely, restful week. The location is perfect for the beach and there is a supermarket, fish and chip shop and pub in walking distance.

    — L Ellis, 31 Jul 2022
  • Stayed here for five days in March. Lovely cottage would definitely recommend. Very comfortable and beautifully decorated throughout. Washroom an absolute gem for cleaning dogs, wet coats and to do laundry. Set in centre of Winterton too. No allocated parking space but never had an issue. Parked next to cottage every day.

    — Carol Leech, 11 Jul 2022
  • So happy with our stay we have booked for the same week next year. Comfortable beds, well laid out cottage. Could do with more loo rolls though! Winterton is dog heaven. Great welcome for dogs and owners in local pubs, The Lion at Somerton, Nelsons Head at Horsey and Winterton's own Fisherman's Return. The broads boat tour from Horsey Pumping station is also dog friendly, and worth a visit.

    — will smith, 20 Jun 2022
  • Getting to love Winterton. The boot room is a good feature - no dogs with us but good for wet beach things, shoes, etc. Found the cottage cosy and enjoyable to stay in. So nice to stroll on the dunes and the beach when you feel like it, and when the crowds may be dispersing. A small thing would be to say we'd have preferred a little more lighting - side lights for reading in the bedroom and something like a nightlight to help on the stairs for the bathroom, as it is very dark.

    — Kathryn and John, 05 Jun 2022
  • Beautiful and cosy cottage, I felt quite at home with my two dogs. The owners have thought of everything - next time I will take a tea cosy, but I'm one of the few people who likes a pot of tea in the morning! The dog room is a real bonus, especially if the weather is wet. We had dry weather, so I just groomed my dogs in there most mornings. The village and local pub are very dog friendly, I have never seen so many (well behaved) dogs in a pub! There's a post office and dog friendly tea room. The sand dunes start at the end of the road, we spent the week walking along the beach to Hemsby and back again over the dunes. It's a good beach for seal watching.

  • Lovely stay at 1 Old Chapel Cottages which is small but beautifully formed with lovely decor. We stayed a long weekend with two teenagers and one dog and managed just fine. A very short walk from the beach, pub and shop. Very small backyard so you really do need to take the dog out to do it’s business but the weather was beautiful so that was definitely no hardship.

    — DPragnell, 20 Apr 2022
  • Quaint cottage only 5 minutes from everything really. No garden or grass to speak of but my dog didn’t mind. Decorated well and the main bedroom is beautiful. The kitchen is small but was fine for me on my own, I think a family may struggle with the small dining table in the kitchen. I personally would of liked a blind at the bathroom window but I just covered it up. Lovely bottle of wine left. I would stay again with my husband and daughter, overall it’s cosy!

    — Rachel Clayton-Knight, 30 Mar 2022
  • We had a weekend break and stayed in this lovely cottage. They had thought of everything and the laundry room was especially useful for drying the dog and leaving our boots after walks on the beautiful Winterton beach. The welcome basket was a nice touch! Highly recommend! Thelma, Andrew and Digby (dog) Harrison

    — Thelma Harrison, 19 Mar 2022
  • Lovely stay at this cottage, everything you need there. Really cosy. Great location by a beautiful beach.

    — Launa Austin , 20 Feb 2022
  • Felt at home at 1 Old Chapel Cottages, perfect size for a couple and 1 dog, lovely decor with added bonus of utility room.
    Interesting history of the cottage.

    — Terry Jardine, 01 Jan 2022
  • Cosy comfy cottage. Perfect location for us and the dog. Enjoyed the area and keep coming back. Good local pubs and fantastic beaches and dunes.

    — Sarah Munn, 14 Nov 2021
  • We had a very relaxing week in Winterton. The cottage was very nice and cosy. We all enjoyed our walks along the endless beach, got to see the seals a few times and got up early one morning to watch a beautiful sunrise. My son loved the boat ride on the Broads in Wroxham and the day trip to Great Yarmouth. We had a brilliant time! Even the weather was better than expected!

    — Karine, Emmanuel and Anatole , 31 Oct 2021
  • We had a lovely stay in the cottage and there was everything we needed and more. Especially enjoyed the log burner - what a great place Winterton is for dogs, thank you!!

    — Emma , 24 Oct 2021
  • Lovely cottage, quiet and excellent location. Recommendations - The Dunes Cafe at Waxham (Sea Palling walk). Fisherman's Return pub is very good but very busy! Lovely walk along Low Road to Martham Broad and Horsey Wind Pump, then Nelson's Head pub and back via seals to Winterton (10 miles!)

    — Sharon, Nick and Smartie, 15 Oct 2021
  • What a lovely little cottage. Perfectly situated for the dunes, beach and village centre. We were so amazed to see a herd of seals swimming up the shore. Made our weekend. ❤️

    — Jo Alex Thunder 🐾 & Luna 🐾, 09 Oct 2021
  • I have stayed at Winterton many times but this was my first time at 1 Chapel Cottages. The cottage is lovely and in a great location for the beach and the pub! Having the little outhouse to dry and clean off the dog before going into the cottage was a great bonus and made life a lot easier. Thumbs up from me and paws up from Megan!

    — Lisa & Megan 🐶, 04 Oct 2021
  • We had an amazing 3 day break in this fabulous little cottage with our springer spaniel. It was so peaceful and we slept like logs. We only used the car once as everything was within walking distance. We had the added bonus of watching the seals.

    — Jab Duncan, 20 Sep 2021

  • A wonderful little cottage in the most wonderful of Norfolk villages. Finished to a very high standard. A stones throw from the dunes and I drifted off every night listening to the crashing sounds of the North Sea. Just magical - we'll be back!

    — Alan, Nikkita, Ellie & Wizzle Pig, 15 Sep 2021
  • We had a short break at this charming little cottage which was a stones throw from the beautiful, all year round, dog friendly beach and dunes.
Perfect for a quiet getaway to recharge one’s batteries! - Thank you.
