Property Details

On the front wall of Sam’s Snug is a blue plaque dedicated to local legend Sam Larner, a herring fisherman and folk singer who once lived in the cottage. Sam first went to sea when he was eight years old, and later in life became one of Britain’s most influential folk singers.

Today, Sam’s Snug has been transformed into a modern two bedroom cottage with a gorgeous garden. Downstairs, the spacious entrance porch has plenty of room for hanging coats and storing walking shoes. A door to the right leads into the kitchen, which has an electric hob, cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine.

At the back of the house is a modern bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, washbasin and WC. The double aspect living room has a wood burning stove for cosy evenings in, comfortable seating and a dining table which seats 4. Open riser stairs lead up to the first floor landing.

Upstairs, the main bedroom has a king size double bed, and an ensuite WC with washbasin. Bedroom two has twin 3’ single beds and overlooks the back garden.

Outside there is ample off road parking for two cars and the back garden is private and enclosed with stunning views of the church. There is free unlimited wifi at Sam’s Snug and two dogs are welcome. The cottage is only a five minute walk from the beach, and close to other local walks across the Norfolk countryside.

  • A lovely cottage in a beautiful village with amazing beach close by. Delicious food at Poppy's Tea Room, Fishermans Return and chip shop all in close proximity. Ideal for a relaxing break.

  • Had a very enjoyable few days in Sam's Snug. Comfortable, clean and homely in a friendly village. Enclosed safe garden if you are taking your dog. Has everything you need and is a good base for touring surrounding areas. Close to a long, dog friendly beach which now has catering van instead of the cafe but still serving very tasty food. Also local pub, fish and chip shop and convenience store all within 5 minutes walk. I would absolutely make Sam's Snug a recommendation if you needed self catering accommodation.

  • Very comfortable stay at Sam's snug, a home from home. Only problem was we had to leave.

  • Just returned from a lovely weekend at Sam's Snug, near the wonderful dunes and beach at Winterton-on-Sea! We even spotted a few seals swimming along the coastline. The cottage is perfect, as is the village, with a well-stocked little shop and cosy pub. The dogs had a brilliant time too! Thank you so much.

  • Sam's Snug is a comfortable, well equipped, and conveniently located cottage. The sea is only a few minutes walk away. It's in a good location for exploring the Broads, the coastline and historic parts of Norfolk. Sam's Snug is a suitable base for people who would like a relaxing holiday, walkers, bird/wildlife watchers, outdoor lovers, kayakers/canoeists/boaters, swimmers, architecture aficionados, dog owners, and no doubt many others.... We found the local people to be friendly.

Would we and the dog return? Yes.

  • Have just returned from a really enjoyable few days at Sam's Snug. Cottage is well equipped and well located in the village. Within walking distance to everything - dog friendly pub, fish and chip shop and the Tea Rooms (all lovely) and of course the dunes and the beach which are great for walks. 10 minutes drive into Great Yarmouth too and boat hire for the Broads. Would recommend and would definitely return.

  • What a lovely little place! Perfect location in a perfect village by the sea. Only few minutes walk to the beach to do a bit of seal spotting on the gorgeous golden sand. Very friendly locals and also very dog friendly area too. Dogs allowed on beach all year round and no mess/rubbish, very well respected area. Stairs in the cottage may not suit some as quite steep and small but very well presented and everything you need for an enjoyable stay.

  • We had a great stay at Sam’s snug, the entrance porch is huge and ideal for all your outdoor clobber. It has been really tastefully decorated throughout and the kitchen is very well equipped, lovely enclosed garden, doggy towels for the dog, they have tried to think of everything. Loved our stay ❤️
